Outreach opportunities at LCS

One of the key principles we instill in our students is that God has given us talents and abilities in order to serve others. Lighthouse students in all grades are given opportunities to participate in local and global mission projects. Some of these projects include:

All God’s Children Schools (Liberia)

Lighthouse is privileged to sponsor a sister school in Liberia. The prayerful and financial support enables over 1,000 Liberian students to receive an education. Past projects have included providing uniforms, school supplies, soccer balls, desks, and supplemental teacher salaries for All God’s Children. Students also exchange letters between the two schools, and Lighthouse teachers have completed summer mission trips to Liberia.

Food Bank

Lighthouse students collect food for the Gig Harbor FISH food bank each fall. In 2008, our student body completed a special toy/gift drive that provided Christmas gifts to needy families in the community. Elementary students also collected more than 7 grocery carts full of food for the Key Peninsula food bank!

Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital

The Teddy Care Project is a signature mission project at Lighthouse! At school students learn about some of the diseases or special needs that may send a child to the hospital. Students minister to these children by praying for them and by giving one or two new teddy bears (or other stuffed animals) to comfort them at their time of need.

Community Service Projects

Students in grades 3-8 are required to complete at least one community service project each school year. These projects range from ministering at a Veteran’s home, cleaning at a church, volunteering at a food bank, or helping a neighbor in need. Some projects are completed as a group project, while others are completed individually.
